“Batumi Medical Academy” is a leading professional educational institution in the region, which has been successfully operating in the Georgian educational space for more than 32 years.

The history of the Academy begins with a great idea and a person – Revaz Uzunadze, who, together with his friends, Grigol (Givi) Goguadze and Shota Turmanidze, laid the foundation for a space where education, professionalism and human values ​​were united. This was not just a professional startup, but a family tradition that was passed down from generation to generation. The Academy still maintains the spirit based on these values ​​– a place created with love, where each student, teacher and employee becomes a part of this history. The Academy’s director, Shorena Uzunadze, and Public Relations Manager, Elene Kurtanidze, tell us more about these and other interesting issues.

What is the main mission of the company?

Our main mission is to train highly qualified healthcare specialists in accordance with international standards and to promote their continuous professional development. We aim to train personnel who will be competitive in both the local and international labor markets. Our activities focus on the implementation of innovative teaching methods and effective involvement in vocational education policy in order to provide students with not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills.

What kind of services do you offer to the public?

(Shorena Uzunadze): “Batumi Medical Academy” offers the public authorized professional educational programs of international standards. We actively cooperate with partner medical institutions, where our students undergo a practical component. With us you can study the most demanded professional programs in the healthcare field: nursing education, pharmacy (pharmacy) and dental technician. We would like to note with special pride that dental technician is taught only at our academy in Western Georgia. We try to keep up with the pace of the market and prepare qualified personnel for these growing fields in a short time.

The academy is equipped with modern laboratories, training auditoriums and a library, which contributes to the quality and efficiency of education. “Batumi Medical Academy” also has its own dental clinic.

Tell us about the advantages.

Our main advantage is practice-oriented teaching, which allows students to implement theoretical knowledge in a real clinical environment. This is facilitated by our career guide, which was created with the support of the US Embassy and provides students with both theoretical and practical advice. In parallel with their studies, our students undergo paid internships at partner institutions, where they most often stay to work. Our motto is “Learn and Get Employed”, which means that we offer all graduates of the Academy 100% employment in the leading medical institutions of the region.

We have also actively begun to deepen international relations. In 2025, representatives of the Academy paid a working visit to Germany and Poland, with the aim of establishing partnerships and sharing best practices. Our visits do not end there, and we are also actively looking forward to the visit of foreign partners to us. The Academy is actively working on joining Erasmus + exchange programs so that our students, professional teachers and administration representatives have the opportunity to take advantage of exchange programs and improve their qualifications.

What are the future plans of the Academy?

(Elene Kurtanidze): Our future plans are quite ambitious. We plan to expand international partnerships, and we are also working on adding new educational programs - in particular, “Dental Assistant” and “Massage Therapy” - to meet the growing demands in the healthcare sector.

Starting this year, our Academy will introduce the “Revaz Uzunadze Scholarship”, which will award students with the best academic results. This scholarship will be not only material support, but also a symbol of dignity for those who, along with academic success, are actively involved in public activities.

In recent months, many interesting events have been held at the initiative of our students, including: We participated in “Happy Starts”. At their initiative and with the support of the Academy, they took a photography express course, which included both theoretical training and practical shooting. The students visited the House of Virtue, conducted consultations in the field of healthcare, organized a photo session for beneficiaries and organized an exhibition of photos, and presented the photos as gifts to the elderly. This is a clear example of how our Academy grows not only a future professional, but also a value-based person who is ready to contribute to the development of society.

In addition, we have an Open Academy Day every Wednesday, and anyone can pre-register for a visit and choose from three different activities according to the program.
